Hi, I’m Aleesa

Born in Virginia. Raised in Olathe. KCMO by choice since 2016.
A little bit of background on me, I have spent the majority of my career as both a social worker and a restaurant warrior.
During my career in social welfare, I have continuously been amazed at the resiliency of the human spirit to overcome the biggest odds. To be given the opportunity to walk side by side with someone as they change their life is a gift I’ve never taken lightly.
My years in the restaurant industry has taught me the value of hard work, team work & how much a family meal can change everything.
These experiences is that life taught me that life doesn’t give us a playbook to learn from. We all have areas where we can continue to grow, evolve and become better versions of ourselves as long as we continue to show up. Life doesn’t have to be a competition.
My goal with KC Kismet is to bring that same support we have in shelters out into our neighborhood coffee shops, restaurants and parks.
When I am not working in community, you can catch me at the dog park with Franklin!
My Approach
I believe in the importance of seeing someone’s strengths first. Grabbing ahold of what works well & continuing to grow from there. Once a foundation of safety and security is built, we work together to over come our blindspots and into our areas of growth. This may be one on one meetings over coffee, attending events that you’ve been putting off or over coming big tasks you’ve been to overwhelmed to do on your own.

Why do it this way?
Asking for help can be overwhelming & filled with shame. But it shouldn’t be.
So I am creating something different.
Build it
KC Kismet has been building since 2023.
Working individually with neighbors & by word of mouth. I’ve been able to help numerous individuals in their personal and professional lives. In return, they have been able to do the same.
I am excited for this next step.
